The Contraband Fly Casters, Tom Nixon Chapter will be holding the 4th annual Contraband Conclave on Saturday February 14th at the Southwest Louisiana Fishing Club, on the shores of scenic Prien Lake in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Contraband Conclave is the perfect place for both the novice and seasoned angler to spend the day exchanging ideas and information on fly fishing, learning new fly patterns and tying techniques, and enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded anglers. This years Contraband Conclave will feature programs covering a wide range of fisheries and species. Catch Cormier of Baton Rouge will open the conclave with a program on pursuing bream, bass and other residents of the warm water environment on the fly. Captain Barrett Brown of Metairie Louisiana will present a program on chasing redfish and all of the other aquatic residents of Myrtle Grove and the Mississippi Delta on the fly. Finally Federation of Fly Fishers Southern Council President Roger Mailer will present a program on "Sinktipzing" a moving water sink tip technique that has proven deadly on many species in many fisheries, particularly on the trout waters of Arkansas.

In addition to the informative programs, there will be fly tying demonstrations by an array of renowned tiers, a silent auction, rod raffle and more. Admission to the Contraband Conclave is free, and all are invited. Lunches will be sold on the premises.

The Contraband Conclave will take place adjacent to the water, and will be walking distance from a boat launch that allows you access to the incredible fishing of the Calcasieu Estuary.

Roger Maler
SINKTIPZING

Roger Mailer will present a program on "Sinktipzing". Sinktipzing is an incredibly effective technique for fishing moving water using a sink tip. Roger Maler has been a flyfisher since he was 12 years old, and has chased trout of every species, and numerous saltwater fishes, from New York to Alaska, Florida, the Caribbean and beyond. Roger has been involved extensively with the Mid_South Fly Fishers since 1991 serving as board member and president of this great fly fishing club. Roger has devoted much time to fly fishing instruction with new members, and anyone else who would listen. Having developed a modified approach to sink tip presentations, he can usually be found on the White River trying to convince his lovely wife Tracie to abandon her strike indicator and really start catching fish! Roger Maler is the current President of the Southern Council of the Federation Of Fly Fishers, and resides in Memphis, TN and Mountain Home, AR.






Glen "Catch" Cormier
8 SIMPLE RULES FOR WARMWATER SUCCESS

Catch Cormier will present a program on fishing for Bass, Bream and anything else that swims in a warm water environment. Catch is one of the most well known fly fishermen in Louisiana. Holder of numerous listings in the Louisiana State Record books for fly caught fish, Catch certainly lives up to his name

Catch Cormier is the webmaster of Louisiana's premier fly fishing web site, www.laflyfish.com, fly fishing columnist for Louisiana Sportsman Magazine and contributor to numerous other publications. Catch is an innovative tier, with many great patterns to his credit, and is recognized throughout the state as a great champion of our sport, always willing to share his expertise with others. Catch has been very active in the Red Stick Fly Fishers club, having held numerous post as an officer and has also been active in the Federation Of Fly Fisher. Catch currently resides in Baton Rouge, but if you're looking for him on the weekend, just watch for his truck parked on the side of the Hwy 1 canals and marshes.






Captain Barrett Brown
FLY FISHING MYRTLE GROVE AND THE MISSISSIPPI DELTA

Captain Barrett Brown will share with us the incredible fishing he enjoys in the Southeast Louisiana Marsh, including redfish, black drum, speckled trout, sheepshead and more.

Captain Barrett is a full time professional guide and outfitter, fishing the areas South of New Orleans. Captain Barrett is a former fly shop owner and operator, who gave it up in order to spend more time where he loves to be, on the water. Captain Barrett has fished for many species of fish in fresh and salt water at many great locations across the U.S. and around the world, and facilitates trips to many fantastic destinations. In addition to being a guide who is very knowledgable about his fishery, Captain Barrett is also great company in a boat, with his easy going manner, New Orleans drawl and great story telling ability making any day on the water with Captain Barrett enjoyable.
